Abstract:

This brief discussion addresses the needs of an especially at-risk group—DV survivors who are living with a disability. As the authors note, women with disabilities experience more severe victimization, more frequent episodes of violence, and a larger number of perpetrators than women without disabilities. At the same time, they experience greater difficulty in accessing the services they require and the justice they deserve. The authors include recommendations for working with these survivors while taking care to integrate their unique perspectives and lived experience.
