Abstract:
A report on the psychometric properties of the Sexual Adjustment Inventory (SAI) a 225-item 13-scale sex offender screening instrument that includes both static and dynamic factors amenable to change through treatment. The SAI includes two truthfulness scales that assess offender denial, problem minimization, and guardedness, factors associated with program completion and recidivism. The authors report support for the validity and accuracy of this instrument in identifying high-risk sexual offenders. However, they acknowledge and catalog the limitations to this study and outline suggestions for future research in this area. Keywords: Static Risk Factors; Dynamic Risk Factors; Truthfulness, Sexual Adjustment, Sexual Assault, and Pedophilia Scales
