Abstract: 

Effective correctional programs match the delivery of services to the abilities and different learning styles of the offenders.This article describes some of the recent developments in correctional treatment, with an emphasis on the integration of the RNR approach within offender assessment and treatment. It discusses program integrity and effective treatment culture and, through a case example, describes the principles of RNR in action. It also presents outcome research that suggests a correlation between program adherence to the RNR principles and reduced recidivism rates.
