Abstract:

One of the hottest topics in contemporary community corrections is the adoption and implementation of evidence-based practices (EBPs) to reduce recidivism. In order to successfully implement EBPs, practitioners have turned to Implementation Science and its drivers to guide their efforts and initiatives. However, the extant literature is light on research with respect to the quantitative measurement of how well community correctional agencies actually adhere to the drivers. The study described here sought to close this gap by developing the Implementation Drivers Adherence Questionnaire (IDAQ). The IDAQ is a five-factor, 39-item questionnaire that uses the perspectives of community corrections practitioners to evaluate how well their agencies adher to the drivers of Implementation Science during EBP implementation efforts. This article seeks to provide a brief overview of Implementation Science and its basic principles and to describe the overall construction and empirical examination of the IDAQ through a modified-Delphi exercise and exploratory factor analysis.
