Abstract:

An “Era of Mass Supervision” is poised to replace an era of mass incarceration, adding more offenders and more responsibilities to an already under-resourced community corrections field. This editor’s note outlines the case for why those engaged in the work of community supervision of criminal-justice-involved individuals need to become more multidisciplinary in their approach and in their training—combining different academic disciplines and professional specializations in our approach to community supervision—in order to meet the supervision challenges of the coming decades.
