Abstract: 

The executor of the decedent’s estate commenced a timely judicial proceeding to convert this complicated trust structure into two separate trusts—a charitable lead annuity trust (CLAT) and a charitable remainder unitrust (CRUT). Each of these trusts was designed to approximate the result of the original trust.
