Abstract:
The increased pressure for accountability and the probability of greater IRS oversight (see related article on the practical implications of current congressional proposals, page 1 of this issue) may drive more foundations to hire staff. Hiring a foundation employee, whether full time or part time, can be a daunting experience for the uninitiated. Hiring the right employee to manage a family foundation is difficult. As with any hiring process, experience is the key to defining that staff member's role, locating the right person, and putting him or her to work. Keywords:
