Abstract:
The Internal Revenue Service is asserting with growing confidence its authority to monitor the boards of publicly supported charities— including their processes for determining salaries for top executives and monitoring potential conflicts of interest. The rationale is simple: Good governance at the board level, coupled with broad disclosures of policies, procedures, and financial statements, will foster tax compliance and promote public confidence. Keywords:
