Abstract: 

Board meetings are the forum through which governance decisions are made and board business is conducted, and a foundation’s effectiveness at conducting board meetings contributes to the foundation’s effectiveness overall. In addition, well-run board meetings provide a mechanism by which board members fulfill their duties of care, loyalty, and obedience to the foundation. This article discusses various aspects of board meetings and offers suggestions for making meetings more productive.
