Abstract:
In April 2012, the U.S. Department of Justice released the results from a threeyear study evaluating California’s program for monitoring high-risk sex offenders with global positioning satellite (GPS) technology. The study reported that sex offenders monitored through GPS produced “significantly better outcomes for both compliance and recidivism” than a comparison group of offenders who received traditional parole supervision. Keywords: Development Services Group (DSG), California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR), Parole Violations, Arrests, Convictions, Returns to Custody
