Abstract:

According to the authors of a study published in JAMA Pediatrics, “[a]n assumption [exists] that a small distinct group of young men—often labeled serial rapists—commit most rapes on college campuses.” The authors set out to verify whether this widely held belief is in fact true. Their conclusions—that the “campus serial rapist assumption” is not supported by evidence—is summarized in this brief review. The report is Kevin M. Swartout et al., “Trajectory Analysis of the Campus Serial Rapist Assumption,” 169(12) JAMA Pediatr. 1148
