Abstract: 

As women leave abusive relationships, they are often in danger of both physical and sexual assaults from their former partners. While physical assault has been well studied, there are very few studies of partner sexual assault. The studies that exist are often of women in urban settings. Unfortunately, partner sexual assaults can also take place in rural areas, and some aspects of the rural location can actually facilitate the attacks. In this article, the author describes the dangers that women who live in rural areas that are unique to the setting in which they live.
