Abstract:
Pornography has grown into an enormous industry with billions in profits and a huge number of users. The heave use of pornography that we see today has disturbing implications, especially for women who are partnered with men whose sexual attitudes and behaviors have been shaped by exposure to pornography. In this piece, authors Ethan Marshall and Holly Miller bring together a wealth of information about the disconcerting realities of this contemporary phenomenon; they examine the scope of pornography and its contents, and they provide a summary of findings on the correlates and impacts of pornography use. In addition, they describe an instrument specifically developed to more precisely measure the use of pornography. Keywords: Scope of the Pornography Industry; Effects of Pornography Use; Sexual Scripts
