Abstract:

Some abusive men don’t just kill their partners; they seek to erase their victims’ existence. In this article, Zorza presents a detailed review of the book, Erased: Missing Women, Murdered Wives, to describe such cases. Because erasure killings often leave behind no body, few perpetrators are held accountable for their actions. They will even kill their children, pass along jewelry, and other personal items when they feel that they have found someone “better.” Women partnered with erasure killers seldom realize that they are in danger because there has often been no previous abuse.
