Abstract: 

As in so many other areas of our lives, when it comes to helping victims leave violent relationships, it’s “safety first.” In this article, veteran advocate Rose Garrity provides the ABCs of obtaining and maintaining safety for those contemplating or planning their escape. Here, she walks us through the list of items that must be checked off before a safety plan can be considered fully in place.
