Abstract:

Professional hair stylists are in a unique position as far as their relationships with their clients—relationships that include listening to the intimate details of their clients’ lives, including revelations of what is going in the family home. In this piece, DV expert D. Kelly Weisberg provides the details of an innovative program designed to help those professionals better discern and provide advice to clients struggling with domestic abuse. That initiative, The Cut It Out program, is now the official national program of the Salons Against Domestic Abuse Fund.
