Abstract: 

The Municipal Finance Journal has the pleasure of presenting edited proceedings of the annual conference of the National Federation of Municipal Analysts (NFMA) that was held in Miami Beach, Florida on May 17–19, 2000. Since entering into this cooperative relationship with NFMA in 1992, we enjoy having this yearly opportunity to make available sage advice and thought-provoking insights from market-making analysts on both the buy and sell sides of the municipal bond transaction. Publishing the proceedings of a conference rests upon the editing of recorded panel sessions. Presenters are extended an opportunity to revise their remarks for publication—preserving the informal nature of the sessions and the richness of the exchanges, especially in the question and answer periods, while editing out extraneous material and inserting, in brackets or footnotes, clarifying information that readers (such as the full name for acronyms and notations for subsequent events). The result is not intended to be a verbatim transcript of the entire conference, but rather a well-edited version of selected sessions of particular value and interest to the public finance community.
