Abstract:

This presentation by Mary Miller, Under Secretary for Domestic Finance at the U.S. Treasury, addresses the priorities of the Treasury Department in areas affecting domestic finance—in particular, those relating to the municipal securities market. A wide range of responsibilities come under the Office of Domestic Finance. Broadly speaking, these are focused on policies to support economic growth, with particular emphasis on financial institutions and markets. They include overseeing the federal government’s debt management; helping implement the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act and other financial regulatory reforms; and working to strengthen the housing market. Ms. Miller’s address considers not only where we were in April 2012 but also what had happened during the previous four years.
