Abstract:
This panel examined present and future forms of the online trading business, with an emphasis on suitability issues, technology compatibility,and industry contraction. Speakers included Greg Smith, senior research analyst at J.P. Morgan H&Q, who compared the evolution of online trading in the municipal market with e-business development in other markets. Richard Meister, chief executive officer of EbondTrade, shared conclusions drawn from his experience at EbondTrade and his company’s changing business model. John Craft, director of marketing at the MuniCenter, focuses the likely impact of online trading on traditional sales, underwriting, and trading. Duncan Smith, senior managing director of underwriting and trading at Lebenthal and Company, examined electronic trading from the perspective from the end user of online products.Keywords:
