Abstract:

The former Chief Economist and Director of Market Regulation for the SEC analyzes the proposal for regulatory reform issued by the US Treasury Department in March 2008 in a report entitled “Blueprint for a Modernized Financial Regulatory Structure” with particular focus on its recommendations that would expand the role that Treasury would have in the U.S. financial arena. Lindsey’s conclusion: our capital markets are much too important to be politicized any more than they already (unfortunately) are.
