Abstract:
Briefly summarizes advocacy work around the country, including a conference on how to establish and operate elder abuse shelters conducted by the SPRiNg Alliance in Ohio; the Senior Medicare Program of the Administration for Community Living; efforts to advocate for better safety performance from consumer products such as bed rails and handles used chiefly by the elderly; an evaluation of New York’s Justice Center Initiative; new grant opportunities including the Huguette Clark Family Fund for Protection of Elders; and a review of the extensive programs run by JASA, formerly known as the Jewish Agency for Service to the Aged.Keywords: Elder abuse shelters; Senior Medicare Patrol; consumer product safety; telehealth
