Abstract: 

This Washington Report column summarizes the final activities of the 108th Congress, including those related to the Elder Justice Act and the federal budget for fiscal year 2005. It also discusses the activities to date of the 109th Congress, which convened on January 4, 2005; the Administration’s budget proposal for fiscal year 2006; and the issuance by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services of guidelines for surveyors on pressure sores.
