Abstract:

Although VED is focused on elderly victims, a link between victimization and subsequent offending can be found in a vast majority of cases. To exemplify this phenomenon, this column highlights the background of elderly sex offenders. The profile of a typical offender shows that he or she has been abused early in life. While most people who have such experiences do not become offenders, abuse is present in the history of most, if not all, sex offenders.
