Abstract: 

Anyone involved in the legislative process can relate to the challenges involved in researching controversial issues on which laws should be written. Some state legislators in California use a process they call “There Oughta Be a Law,” which encourages constituents to provide ideas. In this article, the author describes collaborative legislative work done by the California State Council on Geriatrics and Gerontology with California State University- Bakersfield.
