Abstract: 

This article pieces together the available research on the effectiveness of prison-based therapeutic community (TC) drug treatment for women. A small body of literature has evaluated post-treatment outcomes for women in prison-based TCs and is summarized here. Also discussed is the treatment needs of women offenders and recommendations for addressing these needs.
