Abstract:

In response to concerns about the lack of science-based drug treatment in correctional settings, the National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA) asked the Urban Institute to undertake a project, “Strong Science for Strong Practice,” in order to identify activities NIDA might undertake to address the unique challenges posed when integrating treatment services with a public health orientation into correctional environments. The present piece describes the project.
