Abstract:

It is unclear whether sociodemographic and abuse history data of offenders are reported consistently over time, calling into question the accuracy of these records. To determine to what extent the self-reported information gleaned during interviews agreed with information contained in official prison files, the current study collected data through a brief self-report interview and compared this information with the information documented in the official prison file. The results show that there are discrepancies between reported and official data.
