Abstract:
The present article argues that incarceration for drug offenders is often not productive. The authors explain that the combination of high costs and ineffectiveness of incarceration on solving drug problems, along with the notion that the public does not benefit from drug users being locked up, has left us with a system in need of reform. One plausible solution, detailed here, is the move towards alternatives to incarceration. Keywords: alternatives to incarceration
