Abstract:
In June 2006, the Commission on Safety and Abuse in American Prisons issued its 128-page final report, “Confronting Confinement.” The report views violence in jails and prisons as a serious problem. The commission concludes that in order for a jail or prison to be successful, issues such as rape, gang violence, and inmate abuse by officers must be confronted.
