Abstract:
This article relates to the following study: “The Adolescent Diversion Project: 25 Years of Research on an Ecological Model of Intervention,” 27(4) Journal of Prevention & Intervention in the Community 29-47 (2004). Its purpose is to argue that youth who are “warned and released” are as likely to recidivate as those who go through standard juvenile court operations and that family-based diversion produces less delinquency. Based upon these findings, the author argues that dealing with delinquency in a family context is more effective than simply ignoring the act or punishing the act via the juvenile justice system.”Keywords: juvenile delinquency
