Abstract:

This article highlights residential treatment programs (as opposed to community treatment programs) for youth sex offenders. In comparison to community treatment, residential treatment is a combination of the fast lane, a microscope, a telephone booth, and “the energizer bunny.” Everything is faster, bigger, and occurs in close quarters and never stops. The author explains that for the more severe cases of adolescents who have sexually offended, it is clearly the best available treatment modality.
