Abstract:

Offenders are people whose natural empathy and compassion have failed to restrain their behavior for some reason. They have harmed others and are at risk of doing so again. We can understand this failure better if we separate criminal behavior into three different categories: psychopathy, dysreasoning and moral disengagement. Knowing which category an offender falls into will help us assess his problems and provide services according to what is specifically wrong with his behavior. Fry explains these three categories and how to treat each appropriately.
