Abstract:
This issue reviews one legal proceeding. In Illinois v. Hawkins, 2011 Ill. LEXIS 1096 (June 16, 2011), the Illinois Supreme Court analyzed whether an appellate court decision to hold prisoner Kensley Hawkins liable for over $450,000 in prison costs over almost 30 years was fair. The Illinois Supreme Court ruled that this legal action be vacated, as it was seen to be unjust. Keywords: costs
