Abstract:
The Washington Department of Corrections introduces a number of reforms, including the creation of female-only correctional assignments, to address the problem of sexual assaults by male guards after an extensive investigation and assessment of the situation. In response, the Teamsters Union, representing over 6,000 correctional employees in Washington, then filed a federal lawsuit alleging sex-based employment discrimination. Keywords: Teamsters Local Union No. 117 v.
