Abstract:
Despite the fact that there is now a well-developed literature regarding “what works” in reducing offender recidivism, corrections professionals continue to experience considerable challenges related to “how to make it work”. This article explores the development of a process to re-design existing correctional programs and systems to help increase adherence to the principles of effective intervention. The overall intent of this process is to design and implement an evidence-based model of programming. Keywords: cognitive-behavioral interventions; risk, need, and responsivity (the RNR model); “science of implementation”; assessment, treatment, behavior management, and continued quality improvement; Client satisfaction surveys
