Abstract: 

Federal law clearly forbids a district court from imposing a term of imprisonment at initial sentencing for the purposes of drug rehabilitation but does the same restriction apply when revoking a defendant’s supervised release and candidly requiring defendant to go to prison to facilitate getting help?
