Abstract:
In Braggs v. Dunn, 257 F.Supp.3d 1171 (M.D. Ala. 2017), Judge Myron H. Thompson signed an 84 page opinion in which he found ADOC in violation of the Eighth Amendment in failing to provide mentally ill prisoners with adequate mental health care. The actual remedy has not been established, but Judge Thompson’s opinion, which is summarized here, is a mini-textbook on correctional mental health care, and its absence. Keywords: Braggs v. Dunn
