Abstract:
Some readers may remember the iconic documentary film, Titicut Follies , produced in 1967 by Frederick Wiseman. The film was done at Bridgewater State Hospital and showed the unspeakable indignities and horrors (e.g., nasal force feeding) inflicted on hapless patients. This article comments on the 2016 announcement from Governor Charlie Baker’s administration that Bridgewater will move from a hybrid prison to a more clinically focused facility.Keywords: public safety and medical treatment; Old Colony Correctional Center; clinical programming; individualized treatment
