Abstract: 

In the face of overwhelming evidence of guilt, defense counsel sought to avoid a death sentence by calling expert witnesses who testified to the killer’s serious psychological problems. Did characterizing Ward as a ‘psychopath’ constitute ‘ineffective’ representation?
