Abstract:

U.S. v. Laureys, 866 F.3d 432 (D.C.Cir. 2017), is a decision that examines defense counsel’s possible ineffective assistance in a case where his client was charged with attempted enticement of a minor and traveling across state with intent to engage in illicit conduct with a child. Cases like these are guided by Strickland v. Washington, 466 U.S. 668 (1984), which created the constitutional standard for assessing ineffective assistance of counsel in a criminal case.
