Abstract:
Uber has encountered resistance wherever it tries to establish itself, but at least one national group sees the ride sharing service as a promising way to keep people who have been drinking from getting behind the wheel. A Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) study demonstrated that Uber offers a reliable means to reduce drunk driving. In spite of the data—93% of respondents would recommend Uber to a friend who had been drinking—opponents have successfully blocked efforts permit Uber to operate in many jurisdictions. Keywords: Ridesharing services; Designated Driver Partnerships; DUI/DWI related deaths decrease; “Old Bridge Safe Ride”
