Abstract:

The journal’s “Legislation” column reviews federal and state legislation that mandates, regulates, or otherwise affects remote supervision technologies. Such legislation rarely occurs in the form of a clean, stand-alone bill; rather, provisions relating to electronic monitoring are often tucked into larger bills, such as federal appropriations. Our legal editor, Ken Kozlowski, extracts the relevant provisions in this bi-annual review. This issue’s column deals principally with legislation considered or enacted in the Spring and Summer of 2016.
