Abstract:
The human brain is the most complex organ in the body, regulating all mechanisms from the most primitive task of breathing to the most complex and misunderstood emotions of love and happiness. Adolescence is a time for development of this intricate neural network, and is a time of constant change and maturation of the brain. Researchers are beginning to understand the numerous transformations occurring during teen years required for a functioning adult brain in relation to an individual’s environment and personal experiences. This period of brain development is vital and unique to the human race; it takes one from childhood to adulthood, from dependence on others to dependence merely on oneself, and is regulated by both environment and biological development. This article looks at brain development and the effects alcohol has on it in making choices such as driving.Keywords: Lewis Henry Morgan Institute; Mothers Against Drunk Driving;
