Abstract: 

Most administrators and researchers agree that there is no single approach to the problem of college drinking that will provide a complete solution. Typically, colleges rely on a combination of programs to reduce drinking and the negative consequences associated with it, such as environmental management; peer counseling; and social norming. This article focuses on the debate over the effectiveness of social norms in this effort.
