Abstract:
Mileposts is our regular review of new statistical data, research findings, and noteworthy events and milestones in the fight against drunk, drugged, and distracted driving. This issue examines recent findings that suggest a decline in alcohol and drug use among teens; among the many surprises in “Monitoring the Future National Survey Results on Drug Use, 1975-2015” prepared by Lloyd D. Johnston and a team from the University of Michigan Institute for Social Research, are lower rates of drunkenness and greater teenage disapproval of binge drinking. This edition of Mileposts also examines the grim details of a road rage incident turned homicidal, and growing trends that suggest a “merging” of prescription drugs with black-market uses. Keywords: binge drinking; defensive end Will Smith; fentanyl
