Abstract:

Idaho and Virginia pass laws, Bill SB1078 and the Student Group Protection Act respectively, dealing with religious pluralism on campus citing the policy now enforced at Vanderbilt University that led to the forced departure from campus of no fewer than 13 religious groups. The Fourth Amendment comes into play when the search of a student’s cell phone without a reasonable suspicion that the search would uncover evidence of further wrongdoing or the potential of injury.
