Abstract:

Unlike other types of risk management, there are two inherently opposing philosophies at work in university risk management. In higher education, the goal is to spread information and share information with as many people as possible. In sharp contrast, risk management is the business of controlling; controlling information, controlling risk, and controlling situations so that they do not become a financial burden to the organization. This article discusses what different types of risks there are on college campuses and how insurance covers them.
