Abstract:

When a parent refuses to pay for college tuition, that refusal can seriously disrupt a student’s education. If parents refuse to fund the initial payments for a college education, or cut off tuition payments for students who are already attending college, does the student have any legal remedies? In many cases, the answer is yes. This article examines ways that colleges can retain qualified students who are unable to meet their tuition obligations due to divorce and custody disputes and other family disruptions.
