Abstract:

After passage of the “Post-911 GI Bill” in 2009, college enrollment by veterans increased 42% between 2009 and 2010, and has continued to climb every year since then. With the more generous benefits written into the “Forever GI” Bill of 2017, veteran enrollments are certain to grow even more. This article looks at the unique benefits to campus and classroom life gained by the presence of veterans in undergraduate and graduate programs, and how colleges and universities can best support the veterans on their campuses.
