Abstract: 

The editors review recent court decisions directly affecting college and university administration, discipline, and safety: a false answer on a university application becomes grounds for dismissal at Brown, a student alleges that the University of Delaware (UD) failed to honor an oral athletic scholarship offer, the court upholds a verdict in favor of the university in the case of assumed risk using gymnastic equipment, a student is dismissed from a dental program after forging patient encounter forms, admission is rescinded when a student fails to disclose prior criminal convictions, the death of a student from altitude sickness occurs during a study-abroad program, a student disciplined for alleged involvement in fraternity hazing has potential cause of action for damages arising out of denial of due process, a wrongful death suit arises out of fall into a gorge on campus, a battle over athletic scholarships at Savannah State University, a fraternity is not liable in the case of an assault at a fraternity function, and residency requirements regarding educational benefits for veterans are examined.
